Funding Opportunities for Faculty

Seed funding to advance global health research, as well as awards for travel is available for MEZCOPH faculty.

Dean’s Strategic Initiatives and Innovation Fund

We are pleased to announce that $500,000 is available to award from the Dean’s Strategic Initiatives & Innovation Fund (DSIF) for the Fiscal year 2023 competitive cycle. We are seeking proposals that are innovative, aspirational, and explicitly aligned with the College’s Strategic Plan.

MEZCOPH priority areas for funding:

  1. Expanding student experiential learning locally & globally
  2. Enhancing research capacity
  3. Innovation in Education
  4. Promoting growth and opportunities to generate new revenue for MEZCOPH
  5. Community Engagement
  6. Promoting diversity and inclusivity

Funding requests can range from $5,000 to $50,000 per project over 18 months. The initiative is expected to be financially sustainable through the generation of new resources or the reallocation of other resources after the DSIF funding period.

Dean’s Annual Fund

One of the goals of the Dean's Annual Fund is to provide small seed grants for MEZCOPH faculty, especially junior faculty, to give them the opportunity to engage in high-quality global research and scholarship.

The amount available for a faculty seed grant award ranges between $1000 and $5,000.

The amount available for a travel scholarship award ranges between $500 and $2,500.

Faculty can apply for funding via the Dean's Annual Fund.

Iman Hakim and Michael Mikhael Family Global Health Fund

The main purpose of the fund is to promote cultural diversity by supporting international students studying in the College, domestic students who wish to complete internships abroad, or faculty who wish to pursue global health research.

The amount available for a faculty seed grant award ranges between $500 and $3,000.

The amount available for a travel scholarship award ranges between $500 and $2,000.

Faculty can apply for funding via the Dean's Annual Fund Application.

The Fogarty International Center at NIH offers funding to support global health research. Fogarty also offers a variety of resources for those seeking global health research funding across NIH, and from other organizations.

NIH Global Health Funding: In addition to Fogarty-supported programs and the trans-NIH programs and collaborations Fogarty is involved in, many Institutes and Centers at NIH offer funding opportunities to support research on global health topics, or in areas relevant to global health.
